Picture Description

The features, winter colours and plants in bloom are -

Cottage garden features: flower beds, hidden arbour and seat a beautiful reflection in the lesson room window, the pond and bridge, background - the rose arch in the winter sun.
Cottage gardening winter flowers and colours in the:
- Foreground - snowdrop, skimmia and honeysuckle leaves in green, contrasting with snowdrop flowers - white, and, better visible in the large picture - use the link above, the red flowers of male Japanese skimmia - Skimmia japonica - at the very bottom of the picture.
- Middle ground - winter jasmine in flower - yellow, honesty seed pods - white, and the green leaves of firethorn and various bulbs preparing for the spring.
- Background - to the right of the rose arch, blue Dutch crocus (syn. Garden Crocus) - Crocus vernus - and a steadily growing pile of rotten border rolls in the driveway as we replace all border rolls in the back garden. Not bad after 10 years service - as you can see in the photo, we replaced the front garden border rolls last year (2006).
