- Cottage garden features: garden path surfaced with wood chippings, background - our rustic red brick cottage with door and windows framed in white, the double rose arch, the newly-built (summer, 2006) pergola for the chinese wisteria - Wisteria sinensis - and our dogs, Mickey and Minnie - notice how they both turn their backs toward the rays of the sun just like sun bathers, very exact.
- Cottage gardening winter flowers and colours in the:
- Foreground - flowering or Japanese quince - Chaenomeles x superba - with reddish branches and the remnant of a plant coloured ghostly white by the previous night's frost.
- Centre stage - Viburnum x bodnantense 'Dawn' with pink-white flowers and the white dogs on the right.
- Background - butterfly bush still covered in leaves (grey-green) and seed heads (brown), the rose arches with bird feeder and the part of the pergola.
